The changes to the junction between Lower Westwood Road (opposite the New Inn) and Farleigh Lane have been rescheduled by Wiltshire Council for the two weeks commencing on 3rd June. While the works are in progress, two way traffic light control will be in place on the Lower Westwood Road (C217); the first 50 metres of Farleigh Lane from the New Inn junction will be closed to traffic. New Inn Traffic Calming Scheme

There have been a number of concerns raised in recent years from Westwood residents and the local Speed Watch team relating to traffic management issues at the junction of Farleigh Lane and the Lower Westwood road (the area around the New Inn). Specifically, excessive vehicle speed (with consequent danger to pedestrians and cyclists), but also damage caused to the foundations of the stone wall opposite the New Inn as a result of vehicles parking on the virtual pavement and grass verge.Wiltshire Highways have drawn up a modest traffic calming proposal for this area of Lower Westwood, and Wiltshire Council have now included this scheme in their 2023-24 Highways budget
